This position is assigned to the Ambulatory Care/Primary Care at William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital. The purpose of this position is to provide clinical, clerical/assistance, and technical support. In this capacity, the applicant must be skillful and flexible in establishing goals and setting priorities due to the fluctuating needs of the clinical staff - and will function in a varied range of supportive duties within the inpatient and outpatient section. Major Duties:
- Accurately and efficiently screens visitors, patients, and staff according to current guidelines. This may involve taking temperatures, asking screening questions, taking other vital signs and following protocols. - Greets patients and visitors in a pleasant and courteous manner. - Provides information and directions to patients and visitors including assisting with physical transportation of Veterans within the hospital and clinics. - Provides transportation of Veterans to clinic appointments including general wayfinding. - Answering calls politely and courteously, providing what is being requested in a timely manner. - Assists other staff in answering telephone calls as to reduce wait times. - Assist patient with miscellaneous needs such as directions for service needs, waiting room, etc. - In room cleaning of non-removable RME per policy. The employee will wipe down exam tables, counters and equipment that remains in the room to ensure the room is clean and prepared for the next exam/patient. - Room set up and supply stocking daily to ensure the exam rooms are stocked with supplies needed for exams such as dressings, ointments, bandages, etc. -Interactions with care providers, LPNs, and other staff. As part of the care team, may be called upon to assist with obtaining items needed, such as dressings, linens, etc. Helping put away supplies when able and assures that all items are rotated properly using FIFO (First-In, First-Out). Priority Ordering rotate stock ensuring first-in, first-out supplies are arranged appropriately. This includes the supplies in the nurses' station (needles, syringes, etc.). This position may be required to travel 25% of the time when coverage is needed at another clinic location. Our Northern Tier Clinics include Baraboo, Beaver Dam and West Clinic and Southern Tier Clinics may include Rockford, Freeport and Janesville clinics. Work Schedule:

The work requires long periods of standing, with minor bending, lifting and pushing. The work may include carrying different sizes and weights of items. The work also requires agility and dexterity to handle papers, books, charts, boxes of copier paper and medical supplies. To qualify for this position applicants must meet all requirements within 15 days of the closing date of this announcement. GS-02 Health Aid
Experience:
Three (3) months of general experience. General experience includes:
Customer service in a clinical setting, direct patient care, indirect patient care. OR Education:
Applicants may substitute education for the experience required. Successful completion of High school graduation or equivalent. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
