PATIENT INTAKE REPRESENTATIVE - Admitting - Now Hiring

Job SummaryGreets, directs, and assists patients and customers entering the Emergency Department through the emergency entrance.
They will be able to recognize life threatening and urgent presentations of patients arriving ambulatory to the intake window and will perform intake of key data elements including name, date of birth, chief complaint and physician to initiate the registration process in Meditech and MedHost.
Additionally, the Intake Coordinator will assume responsibilities related to Patient Access functions including Registration, Insurance Verification, Co-pay collection and financial counseling.
Customer service and communication skills must reflect delivering excellence standards.
Job ResponsibilitiesGreets patients, family and visitors entering the Emergency Department reflecting delivering excellence standards.
Intake of key data elements including name, date of birth, chief complaint and physician.
Recognition of life threatening and urgent presentationsAppropriately responding to patients presenting with life threatening and urgent issues by notifying ED triage nurse or other assistance as identified i.

SecurityMonitors Emergency Department waiting room for changes in patient conditions and safety of those presentGreet, direct and log visitors arriving after the Atrium entrance is closed/staffed Verifies registration/demographic information in Meditech for all ED patients cart-sidePerforms insurance eligibility verificationProvides information to patients on financial assistance programs as necessaryProvides presumptive screening tools for patients who present to the ED as Self PayProvides registration services to the hospital for inpatient admissions, OB admissions, newborn, outpatient registration, order entry for patients during hours when the Admitting department is closed.
(After 8pm Monday -Friday, after 1pm on Saturday, Sundays and Holidays)Provides information to patients who will be admitted regarding Medicare payment processesGathers advance directives information from patients and provides information to patients as requestedPerforms QA checks for ED registrationRegisters all pre-registered accounts after midnight to expedite patient arrival in Admitting during businessRequirementsEducation:
High school diploma or equivalentRequired
